Welcome to the Sentence Editing Skill!

This skill edits your writing using Cole’s 8 rules to write better sentences. It’s just one of many .skills we give you inside the Claude Cowork Bootcamp.

The rules are:

  1. End sentences with the most impactful word
  2. Define contractions before using them
  3. Say things in the most economical way
  4. Don't repeat yourself
  5. Vary word choice when repeating ideas
  6. Only one advanced word per sentence
  7. Two-comma rule (max 2 commas, or intentionally many)
  8. Remove adverbs

Here’s how to install and use the Sentence Editor Skill:

  1. Download the .skill.zip file to your computer 👇

    sentence-editor.skill.zip

  2. Upload the .zip file to Claude Cowork (Profile→Settings→Capabilities)

  3. After you upload the Skill, give it a try with a simple command:

    “Hey Claude, I want to {Your task}. Please load the sentence-editor skill.”

Quick Example:

Let’s say you want to edit this paragraph:

"The reason why this is important is because it really helps you to understand what it is that you need to do. When you're trying to learn something new, it's very important that you start to practice regularly and you should begin to implement what you learn immediately. The best time to start is now, because if you wait too long to start, you might not ever actually get around to doing it.”

After you’ve installed the Sentence Editor Skill, all you have to do feed Claude your paragraph and follow up a quick prompt.
